The River Region which includes Montgomery, Autauga, Lowndes, and Elmore counties is not only home to the capital city, but small towns and rural spaces.
While Montgomery is considered our state’s political center, many neighborhoods within the capital city and outlying small town and rural communities face political and economic marginalization, especially when compared to their predominantly white professional counterparts in the suburbs. The results include disparities in education funding, access to jobs and human services.
We envision a region where all residents can thrive, and a state where rural and urban residents are able to meaningfully bridge geographic, cultural, and political divides toward a better Alabama. This means organizing everyday people like you to take on the corporate and entrenched power structures to build more equitable communities.
Sign up to join the River Region Chapter of Hometown Action. Every chapter will elect local leaders from its membership and will develop organizing campaigns rooted in the unique challenges facing their communities.
If you live in Montgomery, Autauga, Lowndes, Elmore or a surrounding county and are ready to get involved or just want to learn more, use the form on this page to sign up.
