Located in the heart of Alabama, the central Alabama region is home to numerous small towns and rural communities.
Central Alabama includes some of the wealthiest communities in the state, but we also face extreme economic inequality between predominantly white Birmingham suburbs and more diverse and rural communities nearby. The results include disparities in education funding, access to jobs and human services.
We envision a central Alabama where all residents can thrive. This means organizing everyday people to take on the corporate and entrenched power structures to build more equitable communities.
Every chapter will elect local leaders from its membership and will develop organizing campaigns rooted in the unique challenges facing their communities.
